Oliveira da Serra Olive Oil Mill

Print
The Alentejo is a repository of agricultural images. One of such images is certainly the olive oil production, which has received heavy investment over the last years, with exceptional results in its quality and its production capacity. Lagar do Marmelo is an example of the investment in this agricultural area. A building that is a large "roof" in the shape of a big ship, that seems to hover over the olive grove that surrounds it. Its base, in contact with the earth, is simply painted black, freeing the "ship" for its apparent hovering. The two consoles, one on each side, offer protection to the loading and offloading and are the wings of this ship which clearly mark and sail the landscape.
