Garducho Biological Station

Print
The typical constructions of the "montes alentejanos" are extremely artificial, they are elements, generally parallelepiped, which dot the landscape in plinths on the top of the hills. They dominate the landscape through their artificiality and are the guardians of a landscape of systems of oak groves. The biological station summarises this artificiality by making the base as an empty space so as to make the entire building "float" in the landscape. This "spaceship" is an integral part of the landscape, creating an experience and a new interpretation of what are the typical constructions, images and landscapes of the Alentejo.
