Museu da Luz

Alqueva has created a new landscape and changed to the lives of villages and towns. A village has disappeared – the village of Luz. So a new village was created as well as a Museum that keeps and represents what the dam destroyed and created. A means of mediation between the new landscape and the old village, a repository of memories, the building makes this social and political transference, disappears in the topography, but asserts itself in a simple, concise language and expression. Its simplicity creates a vibrant tension in the landscape where the roof is a promontory for observing the panorama of the lagoon.
