Museu do Côa

The Valley of the Archaeological Park of the Foz Coa has in itself a great character and a very marked landscape identity. The new museum had the challenge of being linked to the place whilst at the same time stating the artificiality of human construction. As such, the building is very well integrated into the landscape; a huge concrete parallelepiped with a shale texture and pigments that fits perfectly into the topography - stone carved into the landscape - and which creates a promontory above the existing landscape. A shale monolith with different sized cracks, denoting the habitable nature of the space and its composition.
